SAN DIEGO, CA, February 6, 2010 /Stanford Who's Who/ -- Ruth Klampert has been recognized by Stanford Who's Who for her sensational effort in the Manufacturing Industry. As Owner of Slumbercap for the past 17 years she has routinely demonstrated the passion, vision and dedication required to be successful.
Slumbercap is a company involved in the design and manufacturing of sleep caps for cancer patients with hair loss. The product was originally developed in the early 1990's by Ruth Klampert after dreaming about a sleep cap that resembled a little girl's sock with lace on the ankle. At the onset, Slumbercaps were comprised of 96 percent cotton and 4 percent Lycra, had one seam and lace trimming, and were made by Klampert herself, who sewed several and gave them to cancer patients. The pattern was designed by Klampert, sized and styled for women in a variety of colors.
After conducting a small, unscientific marketing survey with cancer centers and doctor's offices in San Diego, it was suggested that Ruth include a design for men as well. She went forward with that, replacing the lace with a cuff.
Among the many clients of Slumbercap are the USC Norris Cancer Center's auxiliary in Los Angeles, Southwest Regional Cancer Center in Texas, Scripps Cancer Center, City of Hope, MD Anderson, Memorial Sloan Kettering, UCLA and Dana Farber.
Klampert is a published author with works including, Ilse's Journey, a story that takes place during Hitler's invasion of Europe in 1939. It is about a young girl's life with her family in Vienna that turns from love and security to the sudden impact of separation and loss ending her happy childhood all too soon.
Ruth is available as an inspirational speaker in the subjects of the Holocaust and battling cancer as well as anxiety, depression, panic disorder and agoraphobia. She enjoys cooking, sculpting and writing in her leisure time.
